Opening a gym is one thing, but fitting it out with equipment that people actually want to use is quite another. You need to get the balance right and ensure that there’s something for everyone.

Here are some ideas you might want to try:

Squat Rack

Squat racks are wonderful pieces of equipment. While they are mainly for squatting, gym-goers can also use them for things like deadlifts, front squats, and even pull-ups if the unit has the right fittings.

When it comes to hardcore gyms, squat racks are non-negotiable, so consider the needs of your clientele and act accordingly.

Suspension Training System

Suspension training systems are perhaps even more versatile than squat racks. The combination of metal frame and nylon cords with handles allows gym-goers to work practically every muscle in the body without a single freeweight in sight.

Roman Chair

Roman chairs are another staple of modern gyms. These allow members to do pull-ups, chin ups, leg raises and dips, all on a single piece of equipment.

Dumbbell Weight Rack

You want dumbbells ranging from at least 2 kg all the way up to 50 kg in your gym. That way, you can provide your clientele with equipment for practically any level of resistance they need. If you run a hardcore gym, you might want to consider increasing the dumbbell range all the way up to 80 kg.

Boxing Equipment

Lastly, for those killer cardio workouts, you might want to supply gym-goers with boxing and MMA equipment. This way, you can provide a little variation beyond standard gym items.
